Corporate History
Devin and Stanley Grandis, founded Advanced Power
Technologies (APT) in March 1994 after extensive entrepreneurial
experience in a variety of business enterprises.
As former ladies fashion accessories
manufacturers and importers, the father and son team first heard about
retrofitting lighting systems when a sales representative contacted them
about changing the lights at their Boynton Beach factory.
By that time, the
Grandis' had grown
tired of this volatile fashion-related business, which was being
hammered by lower priced imported goods. Intrigued by energy management
advancements, their goal was to find an industry where they were more in
control of their own destiny.
At that point they headed in different
directions: Stanley Grandis started a telecommunications business and
Devin decided to develop and run APT.
With a capital infusion of $25,000, Devin opened the business in Delray Beach
and when things took off, they subsequently moved to Pompano Beach
three years later - taking over a 3,000 square-foot space on Powerline
Road.
In 1999
the Grandis' bought and moved into a 14,000 square-foot facility
where after selling the telecommunications business, Stanley joined
Devin to help him run and expand APT.
Today,
having outgrown that corporate facility, the company's expansion is
underway to move into 25,000
square-foot facility located on 2.3 acres to house the corporate staff
and the South Florida Branch with its ever-growing fleet of APT
trucks and equipment.
Mr. Grandis is the past President of the
Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA)
of Ft. Lauderdale/Palm Beach and continues to serve on the Board of Directors
for the 9th consecutive year. He also was the past Co-Chair for
the International Membership Committee for BOMA International.
Additionally, Mr. Grandis was the Founding Father and President of the
Professional
Lighting & Sign Management Companies of America (PLASMA).

A Delray Beach (FL) resident, Devin Grandis knew nothing of the
electrical contracting field - "I did not know a watt from a
watch" laughs Devin today. Still, he thought the business had
potential as well as a purpose. "I could help the environment
and earn a living."

Florida Power and Light (FPL) has recognized
APT's commitment to integrity and quality assurance and bestowed
the coveted Outstanding Trade Ally award on APT. Additionally BOMA recognized
APT as the 1998 Vendor of the Year and Grandis as the 1999 Member of the
Year for APT's efforts, service and support to the
real estate industry.
Realizing that
customer service and satisfaction can only be as good as the personnel providing
them, Mr. Grandis has assembled the finest
management team and support staff to implement his vision making APT the
premier provider of Lighting, Electrical and Sign services
(Partial APT fleet that services customers in the
Orlando, Florida area.)
